I was a bit nervous, being that I was the first parent to step into Primo's class as the "Art Parent." We are going to start a papier maché puppets. I thought it was a good place to start - it is a mixed level group (1-3 grade) - being that it is a very hands on project. Hopefully they will each get the head complete during this class, and over the next 2 classes we will paint, embellish and make the bodies. So we begin with making the paste and tearing strips of paper (the gross and eewws were so funny ~ mostly from the boys!). Then we start to build the heads of mythical beasts, using styrofoam balls, wire and card board tubes as the forms. So much fun and intensity ~ so many adorable monsters! Their imaginations are wild in anticipation of Halloween, the creative release is much needed. The exuberance of children is just delightful.
