Sugar Eggs!

Went into Segundo's class to make sugar eggs, they loved it! I had so much fun, it was totally worth the effort. Only downer was forgetting my camera, so the pictures are limited. I hope the teacher's photos came out good, if so, I will post some of them after spring break. For now, I hope this one is enchantment enough! Han Solo mini fig piloting a sugar egg turned into nest for a peep, priceless!!!!!!

Found this in a Book...

Develop interest in life as you see it:
in people, things, literature, music—
the world is so rich, simply throbbing with
rich treasures,
beautiful souls and
interesting people.
forget yourself.

Quote of the Day

A Beautiful Thing is Never Perfect

PFCs, What and Where

PFCs, What are they?
  • Perfluorinated Compounds, simply they makematerials oil, stain and water resistant and are used in many everyday products.
  • PFCs don't degrade by any natural process, so once in the river, ground or body they are going to stay there.
  • So what is the harm? when PFCs are heated they
  • Manufacturers have aware of the dangers and health risks associated with of PFCs for decades! Little has been done legislatively to protect the environment or citizenry from these toxic chemicals. What is to say any replacement chemical will be safer? Best to avoid Non Stick all together!
Where? PFCs are found in an increasing array of everyday items
  • Grease resistant food packaging microwave popcorn bags, fast food wraooers and pizza boxes
  • Teflon / Non stick cookware
  • Slippery Fabrics such as Gor Tex
  • and other consumer items from lipstick to windshield wiper fluid
Avoiding and Reducing Exposure:
  • Bottom line, be sure to check labels and avoid products that contain these items.
  • Ditch the non-stick cookware, use cast iron once you have it seasoned you'll never now why you choose the non stick stuff to begin with!

Word of the Day

Irascible
adjective

Etymology: Middle French, from Late Latin irascibilis, from Latin irasci to become angry, be angry, from ira
Date: circa 1530

The Irascibles were a group of Artists protesting an Exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum.
Who are new Irascibles? I admit that there is plenty to be angry about but where should the anger be directed and to what good?

Palindromes

A Lovely twist of words, and I am in love with this simple yet at times complex wordplay - art form! Just a few more and then I will try and hold off until the next palindrome day, 11/02/2011. I guess it should be noted that you have to use the month/day/year format for this to work, I have yet to find it calculated for day/month/year format.

Sexes,

Thank you Aziz Inan, for figuring out these dates!
